Let’s talk about the Index Status of Copernic! You will find the status report on the lower right-hand side of your software. It’s important to understand that this number fluctuates regularly as new information is becoming available for the software to locate and index.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The percentage displayed indicates an approximation of the number of items remaining in the indexing queue. If the percentage of files shows 100%, it means that at that moment all the files found and placed in the indexing queue have been indexed. On the other hand, at this same moment if the percentage of files indicates 61%, there are still folders whose contents must be scanned to find new files to index. It is at this point that the indexer says, “Scanning File …”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If new files are found, they will be added to the indexing queue and the percentage of files will drop to 0% and increase as new files in the queue get indexed. (Indexing status indicating “Indexing File …”) The percentage for remaining files can vary between 0 and 100% depending on the items currently in the indexing queue. The percentage for remaining files will increase from 0 to 100% but may re-focus from time to time if subfolders are detected during the content scan. Only when both percentages reach 100% can we say that the indexing is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Number of indexed files<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To see how many files have been indexed so far and the status of the index, click\u00a0View > Indexing Status<\/strong>\u00a0from the main menu. At the very bottom of the page, you can see the total number of files indexed so far in a yellow. At the bottom right when both orange bars are at 100%, all files have been indexed. You can then go back to \u201cView\u201d and click \u201cIndexing Status\u201d once again to return to the main search page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
