Digging Deeper into the OCR (Image Text Recognition) Feature
We have had some requests for a closer look at our Image Text Recognition feature.Optical Character Recognition (OCR) allows the software to read and recognize text from images.
This is available on our Elite tier and can also be purchased as an extension to your Basic or Advanced solutions.
When using the software, Copernic will display results containing the search word in the File Name, System folder, and/or the image itself. Our search today is for the word “Copernic.” We have selected the “Pictures” category icon to narrow our results to images only. You may use the Refinement menu on the left-hand side of the dashboard to refine your search results further if needed.
The image above shows that we have 991 image files that contain the word “Copernic” in some capacity.
As indicated, results will include File Name:
System Folder:
And/Or in the image itself:
More fun features of the OCR extension:
- Scans pictures and images in PDFs for the search word
- Extension can be configured to work in languages selected by the user
- Recognizes the following filetypes: JPEG, Bitmap, GIF, PNG, TIFF, RAW Camera Images, Adobe Photoshop Graphics, Adobe Illustrator Graphics, AutoDesk AutoCAD Documents, Google Drawings, and Metafile Images
- Images are included when the system indexes but can also be triggered manually in the Tools—>Update Index menus
If you are interested in adding the OCR extension to your existing subscription, reach out to us at sales@copernic.com. You will have the option of adding only the extension or upgrade to an Elite tier, depending on your preferences.
